Dyffryn Nantlle
Gwynedd Archaeological Trust’s project focuses on the heritage of Dyffryn Nantlles’ once lucrative slate quarrying industry. Over the course of the project GAT, along with the community group Dyffryn Nantlle 2020, will be working with local young people whilst they explore, learn and interpret their heritage. As the slate industry carved the valleys landscape it also shaped the everyday lives, culture and identity of those who lived in the surrounding communities. By using a range of technological and archaeological techniques the young people involved aim to capture the stories of the areas sites and people.
In the next stages of the project the young people will be developing their technological skills. With training in virtual and augmented reality, the group will have control in designing an app portraying their heritage. If you’re between 11 and 25, and would like to get involved contact us!
